    Description

    White enamel Maltese cross of seven arms with swivel oval laurel wreath suspension; the face with a circular centrally imposed gilt bronze medallion bearing a female head facing left wearing a Phrygian bonnet within a deep blue enamel ring inscribed in gilt letters ‘EDUCATION CIVIQUE 1933’. The medal measures 1 1/2” across at the widest, and the entire piece measures 4 1/16” from the top of the ribbon to the bottom of the medal. The medal was awarded for teaching citizenship and related topics outside of the normal curriculum.
    The original ribbon has a rosette. No pin or suspension device. Not marked to metal content or maker. The gilt is worn from the high points, and the ribbon is soiled overall.
